The Story behind Grave Brigade

Hello, my name is Sean.  Grave Brigade was an idea I had driving to a construction site for work one day.  I had just returned to work after attending a family members funeral.  Unfortunately this was the second family member I had lost by their own hands.  The reason Grave Brigade became a thing was because those men had their already short time on this earth cut down to a quarter of what it should have been.  After the funeral I promised myself and those men that I would not give my one opportunity at life away to a corporation or something that makes me miserable every day.  There is nothing more important to me than my time and how it is spent.  Life, it is to short to not be happy.

The people you see in the photos are myself, one of my best friends and the artist behind 90% of the amazing pieces you see, Sam or Uncle BuckWheat(and a couple extra homies), and another one of my best friends and my business partner, Bamboo(Derek).  I brought the proposal of starting a skateboarding brand to them because I want only the best for those around me and anything I can do to help them get more out of life, I will.  I did not start this brand with the intentions of becoming a millionaire by any means.  I started it so when I say I'm "going to work" that really means my best friends and I are about to set out to get the best we can out of life while being able to support ourselves and our family.

I also started this brand as a way to give back to the community.  I want Grave Brigade to be present in its community and a place people can look to to hopefully see something cool and maybe inspiring.  A goal of mine with this brand is to donate to different suicide awareness and prevention non-profits and charity's.  As a person who has personally dealt with anxiety, depression, and suicidal  thoughts in the past, I want to do anything I can to help as many people out of that as I can reach.  Nobody should have their time cut short.

The dark designs of Grave Brigade are inspired by the things that made me feel better when life was rough and even still do now.  Things like horror movies.  Specifically the old slasher films from the 80's and 90's that really helped create this love for the darker things the mass majority has now.  Inspiration is also drawn from poets like Edgar Allen Poe, and filmmakers like Tim Burton, or authors such as Stephen King. The idea is that there can be beauty found, where darkness is the easiest thing to see.

Grave Brigade also partners

with a skateboard provider that plants 1 tree for every board ordered.  As a way to

keep future generations with fresh air and fresh decks.

Thank you for taking even a second of your time to check out mine and my friends website and I hope this story inspires you to go out and start actually LIVING your life, not to settle for just being alive.

-Thank you for reading, thank you for checking out Grave Brigade!
